“The warriors of the Andes, Cotopaxi and Chimborazo, wanted to conquer the same woman: Tungurahua. For centuries, they fought for her. It is known that to get Mama Tungurahua’s attention, they competed to see who was the most majestic: which one had the best snow, whose lava was redder and more incandescent. They compared the size of their rocks or the most thunderous explosions. Chimborazo’s proximity to the sky allowed it to take a star for Tungurahua and, with it, finally won her heart.
They say that from this union the Guagua Pichincha was born and that Mama Tungurahua is still awake, always active, pending her baby. ”
