The Cuenca triathlonist was recognized by the Ministry of Sports of Ecuador as the best athlete of the month of October. This November 17, she will compete in Santa Marta, Colombia.
Elizabeth got the victory in the Salinas World Cup and proved once again why she is the champion: “while I was running I thought I could keep going. So I did it, I could hear all the people around me who supported me, and I got more energy, and I continued, and I did it faster. ”
According to her analysis, she was able to realize that her physique strengthened at every lap and that helped her maintained the advantage. She managed to maintain her firm step towards the final stretch, and with the flag of Ecuador waving, she got her first world cup.
“I felt very happy to win it at home (Salinas, Ecuador), it’s amazing.”
Her victory was dedicated to her family, especially her father Alberto who died 2 years ago. “He is with me, everywhere, whistling, encouraging me.”
THE BEGINNING OF A CHAMPION
Born in Cuenca, Ecuador, she was always active as a child, practiced ballet and sports. Before engaging in triathlon, she was a swimmer and ran in competitions of 5 and 10 km. Her career began when Cornelio Serrano saw her potential and supported her with equipment and accessories for cycling.
In addition, her family has been a fundamental pillar in her career. They always motivated her to participate in extra curricular activities, hence her interest in sports.
Bravo has stated that her training is hard and constant. Every week she swims 6 hours, rides 8 hours and runs 4 hours. In an interview with Thriatlon.org the champion talks of the enormous effort she has put in to return to her level after having her first child at the beginning of the year: “there have been nights of little sleep, my life changed 180 degrees and great part of the credit goes to my team: my husband and coach, my mother, my family, my National Federation, the Ministry of Sports. Nothing would have been possible without your help. ”
THE FUTURE
Now, Bravo is an elite triathlete in Ecuador. She has added several victories in the Pan American Games, a bronze medal in the South American Games in Santiago (2014), a 4th place in the Toronto Pan American Games (2015). But her most important achievements were the victory in the World Cup played this year in Salinas, Ecuador, her classification to the London Olympics (2012) and the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro (2016).
Her next competition takes her to Santa Marta, Colombia, on November 16, 2017 for which she has prepared intensely.
